Linh My Lam, LPC, NCC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. I received my Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University in Atlanta with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. I graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism with a Concentration in Telecommunications.
My passion and desire to help others became apparent to me when I worked at the Hall County Department of Family and Children's Services assisting low-income families with obtaining governmental assistance. My calling to help others grew as I developed my counseling skills at various agencies such as New Hope Counseling, Oasis Counseling, Morningstar Children and Family Services, and Avita Community Partners. I have also been able to diversify my clinical skills by working in the intake department at Summit Ridge Hospital in an acute inpatient setting to include crisis stabilization with adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Here, I learned how to work quickly to deescalate clients in crisis and was able to see clients get better in a matter of days in regards to their mental health and/or substance abuse issues. I've enjoyed working directly with the treatment team of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other counselors to help clients meet their needs.
My specialties include working with older adolescents and young adults, families in distress, mood disorders, and identity development including adjustment and life transitions. I like to assist in helping families work through relationship conflict, increase communication skills, and become reconnected. My background is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In addition I particularly enjoy working from a multicultural, family systems approach.
I am a member of the Licensed Professional Counselor's Association of Georgia, Association for Play Therapy of Georgia, and American Counseling Association.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia and an alumni of Johnson High School. Go Knights! During my free time I love to travel and have been to places like Vietnam, Japan, the Bahamas, El Salvador, Mexico, Italy, Morocco, France, and England. I revel in immersing in different cultures via food, music, customs and just learning how others live, think, and (my favorite) eat!
I believe that in order to live a happy and fulfilling life, the mind, body, and spirit must all be addressed holistically.
